Online Shiurim Instructions
Kehillas Bais Yehudah invites the entire community to a live interactive on-line Daf Yomi shiur conducted by Rabbi Shmuel Horowitz. We use a shared web server running a program called TeamSpeak that gives us the ability to transmit the live shiur over the internet and have the listeners interact with Rabbi Horowitz. Participants must load TeamSpeak software on their computers to interact with the server.
The shared server does not cost the shul any money, but if you use the service, it is suggested that you make a donation to the provider to support his site. Visit www.nickware.com for more information.
Two Easy Steps:
1. Click here to download the Teamspeak client software. This is the part that runs on your computer.
Download/Save the file onto your computer and then install the software.
Requirements:
1. Gemara or view the daf online at www.e-daf.com
2. windows or Linux PC
3. Speakers
4. Internet Access (broadband is preferred but dial up should work)
5. Optional - If you would like to ask any question it is recommended to get a microphone. A headphone & microphone combination will give the least amount of feedback.
Hints:To test your microphone Windows 2000 & XP provides a utility called "sndrec32.exe" located under the Start-> Programs-> Accessories -> Entertainment ->Sound Recorder
Step 2:
You should have already downloaded and installed the Teamspeak Client software.
1. Launch the Teamspeak client and from the top pull-down menu choose connection and then connect.
2. Right click with your mouse anywhere on the white background. A pop-up menu (see #1 above) should appear. Choose ADD SERVER and enter KBY Daf Yomi.
3. After naming your server the same name should appear on the right (see #2).
4. Enter the server address of nickware.dnsalias.com : 8767 . Make sure you don't have a space before OR after the server address (see #3).
5. Enter your nickname/handle. You CANNOT leave this field blank (see #4).
6. Make sure the anonymous button is selected (see #5). We will not be logging in as registered users.
7. Check the Auto-Reconnect box if you want to reconnect to your server automatically in the event you are disconnected (see #8).
Review the connection information you have entered. When you are ready to proceed, click on the CONNECT button. This should connect you to the TeamSpeak server with a voice message of "link engaged".
